Events

The Royal Dart Yacht Club is not a sit-quietly-in-the-corner kind of club. Although if that is exactly what you want, we have plenty of places that oblige rather well.

On the water, there is racing, cruising, dinghy sailing, junior sailing, training and everything in between. Off the water, there are wine tastings, club suppers, charity days, Burns Night, Trafalgar Night, live music brunches and events that have a habit of going on considerably longer than anyone planned. The social calendar runs all year. There is nearly always something worth booking.

The food is good. The bar is well stocked. The terrace looks out over the River Dart to Dartmouth and beyond to the sea. On a fine evening it is, frankly, hard to think of anywhere better.

Members book through SmartClub. Many events are open to guests and non-members too. Check the calendar and find something you like the look of.

Sailing Programme

The sailing programme at the RDYC runs from April to September and covers more ground than most clubs manage in a full year. Wednesday evening series on the river. Saturday pursuit racing in Start Bay. Coastal series for those who want something more than a buoy-to-buoy. External regattas. The Week of Sail. Junior Sailing Week. And Friday evenings on the Dart for the dinghy sailors who consider racing a nice bonus but the sailing itself the point.

Whether you are a competitive racer with a racing certificate and opinions about sail trim, or someone who just wants to get on the water on a regular basis with decent company, the programme has room for you.

The full 2026 sailing programme, including the Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions and course plans, is available to download below. If you are new to the club and not sure where to start, Rosemary Tominson, our Rear Commodore Sailing, is the right person to ask. She will point you in the right direction without making you feel like you should already know.

Calendar

The club calendar covers sailing, social events, club suppers, training, external regattas and everything else that makes our club worth belonging to. It is updated regularly and worth checking before you make other plans.

Members can book events directly through SmartClub. Non-members can book via the link below for events that are open to guests.

If you are looking for something specific and cannot find it, contact the office. Melinda and Suzanne know the calendar better than anyone.
