Signalling the Course

We are working on improvements to the board introduced last year to improve visibility — watch the side of the committee boat!

Race Officers

As usual, we will be calling on the race skippers to act as RO and provide one assistant for Wednesday evenings and have extended this to weekend racing — but there will always be expert advice to help you on your way. Please do not hesitate to ask.

Registration and results

Entry Form (PDF)
Please print and complete the Entry Form and return it now so that the results service can run quickly and smoothly and get results out on Wednesday evenings before you go home. Separate forms will be available for the Medical Rally and Alderney Races.

Safety

To maintain our good safety record, check that the equipment you should carry is on your boat, that it works, and that you and your crew know how to use it. Show your crew the Safety Notice. The Annual Prizegiving will be held on 15 November 2008 at 20:00 with a crew supper at 19:00 (please book).

YACHT CRUISING

Dartmouth is in the midst of a marvellous cruising area. It is in striking distance of a number of magical places to go to, and with plenty of safe havens. It provides an easy starting point for the Channel Islands and the French coast. The Club organises a number of events for members to explore all this and to share and extend their experience. The numbers attending these events are steadily increasing and are a measure of their popularity. They are equally enjoyed by experienced and inexperienced. They provide a good opportunity to sail in company for those new to cruising.

In the winter, events are organised at the Club specifically for cruising members. These create the opportunity to meet people with similar interests and keep in touch as well as transfer and extend experience. Because nearly half of cruising members live outside Devon, these winter activities are organised for Friday, Saturday and Sunday to make the journey more worthwhile.

Ken Scott (tel. 01803 835922 kenckscott@tiscali.co.uk) is our Cruising Coordinator. He will pull together the overall cruising programme and will organise some of the cruises himself but he can't be expected to do it all so we still need people to volunteer to organise a cruise from time to time. We have a Yahoo! Group to assist communication with and between RDYC Cruising Members - to get details of how to join, contact Ken Scott. Latest news from Ken Scott~>

All members of RDYC are most welcome to join these cruises. If you would like to receive information about cruising events please contact the Club Office (01803 752496) office@royaldart.co.uk
If you are contemplating joining a cruise, please let the organiser know your intentions as soon as possible (don't wait until the deadline), so that likely numbers can be estimated.
