Yacht Racing has the reputation for large numbers of crew destroying the owner's yacht and sails. This need not be the case – replace "Racing" with "Cruising with attitude!"
We organise many different event series.
Last year over half of the fleet was "shorthanded" with only two or three people on board, or running under Progressive Handicap. Over twenty boats took part.
Saturday Leave, Sunday back, Different destinations with great pubs and restaurants in which to meet up.
Day races up and down the beautiful Devon Coast. A great incentive to get out to the yacht and sail. How often have you got a mile or so out to find beautiful sunshine and great sailing while the rest suffer ashore?
There is a short-handed class in all the series of events. This is conducted under the Progressive Handicap system and is ideal for the cruising yachtsman sailing with a friend.
Sailing can be thirsty work, all that sitting about in the sun takes its toll! Naturally any good boat has its list of favourite watering holes and we visit as many as possible, but only in the interests of research!
All this for £30 per boat – less than the round of drinks you have just bought.
Happy to answer any questions, give me a call. I will even buy you a drink in the Royal Dart YC!
